I Am Hooked On Orange ~ And I Mean Hooked!

Okie ~ Dokie..so maybe you can't use the word orange in a poem or a song verse and find a word to rhyme with it...it still is making my ol' heart sing! I am hooked on ORANGE! Big time! Thank you to our wonderful host Julia, for your splendid Hooked on Friday soirees! I would share a tall glass of orange juice and a orange frosted cupcake with orange sprinkles if I could...that is just how much I love these Friday get~togethers and the color orange! Cha~cha~cha!

I am so hooked on this color lately...I am starting to want fall to come early...and after the winter we had last year...I must be nuts!
I just want to wear orange, eat orange food, sew with orange, paint with orange and most of all blog about orange!!!!
Obsessed!

It is invading my sewing room...

{Not really orange} but a golden rod~ish quilt that hangs above our bed...
This is really the only orange~y thing we have in the house and it is not really orange...maybe a close relative...
The acorn squash are in the stores now!!!

When the pumpkins arrive it will be time for this recipe...

I really find myself wanting to eat orange colored food! YUM!
Have you tried this?

Still orange obsessed, I put together a baby orange do~dad filled cloche...

Not even the dried hydrangeas are safe from my crush on orange!

It is truly a happy color, and I believe that orange is not just for Harvest time anymore...no sir~ee...as far as I am concerned...orange may not rhyme with any other word but it sure does rhyme with any room!

Thank you Julia for sharing your party...orange you grand...yes you are!

Tea Pot Toppers And Other Summer Silliness

What is a blog loving gal to do? It is 110 degrees at 5:30pm on this Tuesday afternoon...it was 80 at 6 am! All of this heat makes me silly...so bear with me while I share a silly post...

...come to think of it...maybe it isn't that silly...because this is how I decorate even when it is snowing outside...

I love, love to replace teapot lids with something different...fruit, roosters, a pincushion...whatever...

No teapot is safe from the silliness of this summer day...

I really love my fake~ola pears...

Really, really love 'em...

This rooster really gets around...

How about a nest?

Maybe some baby spoons...

More nests...and bigger eggs...

This fellow looks familiar...chirp!

Pincushion...
I love this one...

And...I was a buckwheat pillow sewing fool today...
That aqua one on the left was bought up by my blogging gal~pal Darlene...
She just happens to be one of the nicest gals I have known...and she has a wonderful blog...check it out ~ Darlene's Days...you won't be disappointed.
And last...but not least...I taught my 12 year old daughter to sew today...and...
she LOVES it...I knew if she liked it from the get~go then she would be hooked like her mama and she was...yippee!
What did she make? Why a tu~tu for the pup...but of course!

Summer Morning On The Porch

Just a bit of lilly~lally~ing on the porch on a warm summer morning...lilly~lally~ing is my favorite pastime...enough said
Back porch...

Magnolia leaves...love em...

My favorite weather vane...

Baby iron fence...

A gathering of roosters...

Blooming privets...

There is a new puppy in the family...
and this is what a pouting cat looks like on a summer morning...

Weather worn past the point of no return....license plate roof bird house...

Spoon perch...

Ivy hugged spindles...

Wonderfully faded quilt...I love this look...as I have said
before, it makes the quilt look like it has a great story to tell...
Gazing ball...

Ivy...super~sized!

Watering can...

No words...

Picket fence love...

More bird house appreciation...

I heart rusty wheels...

Just inside the back porch...a tent in the family room that I made for the twelve~year~old...although, the twelve~week~old pup thinks it is for her.

I hope that you are having wonderful summer mornings.

Hooked On Summertime Bouquets

A few years ago I planted six inexpensive hydrangea bushes, some rose bushes, and some Shasta daisy plants hoping that in some not so distant day in the future I would be able to harvest bouquets of flowers to fill the house and fill my soul...that day is today and let me tell you that I am hooked! Bouquets of flowers from our garden...and today it didn't cost a dime!!!...now that is something to get hooked on. Thank you Julia from Hooked on Houses for such a wonderful gathering of delightful things to get hooked on!

Planted about five years ago...these beauties love shade and water...

...and grow super ~ duper fast and last forever as a cut flower...

LOVE THESE LOTS AND LOTS!!!

Shasta Daisies...enough said!

I love orange roses! Portland, Oregon is known as the "Rose City" so of course these wonderful blossoms thrive here in the Northwest...

Lots and lots of vases of flowers...

Ready to go...even rescued a sweet ladybug from the bundles of flowers...
it that lucky or something?

I really enjoy clipping hydrangeas that are not quite done opening...

An new home in the living room....
Be sure to hop on back over the Julia's Hooked on Fridays party for more fun~o~rama!
Happy Weekend!

Summer Afternoon ~ Summer Afternoon

Summer afternoon ~ Summer afternoon...the two most beautiful words in the English language.

Henry James

Time for some afternoon tea...

And a new blog banner while I'm thinking about it...

A chippy, pealing, warping, faded bench of delight...I have big plans for this old gal...

But that will have to wait for another afternoon...

Burlap pillows freshly made to spruce up the deck...
Painted burlap...fun~ola...
Details...
A scallop~y edge...my favorite...
Sweet little burlap pillow...I may make some of these for my shop...but alas that if for another afternoon too...
I can see that we are going to need more tea...

Soy McIntosh Apple candle from Glade...I want to eat this candle, it is that yummy...I'm just saying...

A new pillow for my ETSY shop...

And a sleeping dog that I will let lie...
Happy summer afternoon to all...
