I'm Hooked!

I have been swamped for the past month with volunteering...but I couldn't let another week pass without joining Julia's Hooked on Friday Party....oh and our wonderful host had a birthday this past week...Happy Belated Birthday Julia...I have said it before and good golly...I am going to say it again...You Are The Hostess With The Mostess!

So I found myself at home yesterday afternoon with a free hour!!!! Well...not exactly free...but I found a way to spend it in the most fun~est way...a whole heck of a lot fun~er than laundry and dishes.

I love to decorated in unexpected ways....one of my favorite things I am hooked on doing is bringing outside stuff~ola inside and for more fun...I love to bring my inside toys outside and leave them all over the yard....let me explain...
I take some quilts and put them outside to decorate the porch rail.

Now, don't you fret...these are not heirloom quilts...well maybe someday they will be...and although they don't have an interesting history to tell of their travels on a Conestoga wagon...they just might have a tale or two to tell of their "back in the day" adventures of life on a Target shelf and the crazy woman that took them home and tossed on picnic and bazaar tables and over a porch rail just because...oh these quilts will have a story...and not just any story....my story.
I really don't mind if they fad and snag and get a bit of a rip...I love that I am giving them a history...and if some quilts get injured in the process...just know they were loved along the way and they give me a smile every time I use them....guess you could say...I'M HOOKED!

You will find wonderfully yummy quilts at Target, TJ Maxx, Home Goods even your own linen closet that are in desperate need of some history and you are just the woman to give it to 'em...

Simple to do...remember, we are coloring outside the box~ola!

You could even toss some wonderful yards of fabric...doesn't have to be a quilt...we are writing our own rules here ladies!

Love the detail...

That porch rail is feeling the love today!

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy May Day...I will be back to more frequent blogging come next week...as for today...the volunteering world awaits...ahhh...but before I go...I am heading back on over to Julia's for more HOH Friday fun!

Smiles ~ Ramona

I totally agree with you that quilts are to be used. I use mine as tablecloths sometimes. Your railing is perfect. :) Have a good weekend.

I have fallen in love with quilts since blogging (ironic LOL) I now have them for my bedding and my sons bedding (his toddler bedding) and if I ever get my guest room back LOL. Now if I only had a porch like you I would even use them outside :) Lovely post

Morning Ramona,

How funny you have a quilt post today because I have been on a quilt frenzy!!! All three of our bedrooms have quilts on the beds anyway, but all of a sudden I have been wanting MORE quilts! I do have two very OLD quilts (falling apart) that I think my great grandmother made (maybe great, great?). They are on a shelf because they are just to fragile to use (but beautiful and have been WELL used in their life). I have won 3 quilts off ebay this past week. I got one of them yesterday, washed it and it is across the foot of my bed. I am waiting on the other two (and trying my best to stay off e-bay). I LOVE how you have that wonderful rail to drape your quilts over.....all your quilts are GORGEOUS also!! I also see them used as outdoor tablecloths and hope to do that this summer.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I can't wait for more frequent blogging from you. You know one post a week from you just isn't enough for me!!!♥♥♥

What a homey, welcoming feel you bring to your porch! I love that you are using them that way and making memories too! Beautiful!

This would be why I call myself a "quilt whore". I love them all: old, new, worn or pristine!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a very nice day and this weekend we're celebrating my daughter's, too, who is turning 7. Springtime always means lots of birthday cake in my family (which, what with swimsuit season around the corner, might not be the best thing--ha).

I do love a good quilt. My husband's grandmother used to make them for family members and we have one she made for his crib when he was born, one she made for his twin bed when he got older, and one she gave us on our wedding. They mean so much to us!

Hope you're having a great weekend, Ramona! :-)

Hi Ramona!

New to your blog and love it. Those quilts caught my eye. I love quilts from Target and even some that are from TJ Maxx. I love how you hung them on your porch!

I love that you're giving your quilts your own "history". Or is that her-story? :)
You've reminded me of a quilt my grandma made, that was never finished. I need to get it out now!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, friend :)

I use quilts all over the inside of my house for decor, but how smart to put them on the porch rail. They look so pretty and add such a decorative touch. Thanks for the inspiration. laurie
